Estonian MEP Yana Toom told Russian media that blocking the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is unachievable.
According to Yana Toom, MEP for Estonia in the European Parliament, it is unlikely that such calls from politicians, including will be followed. “Fighting Nord Stream 2 is rather odd, especially since Denmark has already given its approval. Fight against who? It is difficult to understand. Ukraine’s appeal is politically motivated. I do not see how in practice we could stop the construction of the gas pipeline”.
She recalled, however, that her country was "historically" opposed to the construction of the Nord Stream. However, it would be difficult, according to the MEP, for the Estonian government to reconcile the polar views on this issue of Germany and Estonia.
